"Refined and elegant, showing juicy currant and blackberry fruit shaded with allspice, black pepper and bay leaf. Cabernet blend."
"I believe that the 2005 DP is the best since 2002, which remains the best recent vintage and is probably only eclipsed by the amazing 100-point 1996. The 2005 is a full bodied DP with so much richness and loads of ripe fruit such as pineapple and papaya. It has a wonderful, creamy texture and a long and intense finish. It's a Champagne that fully satisfies but at the same time challenges you with its strength, depth and persistence on the palate."
"Deep pinot-driven presence is the first and lasting impression. Power with control. Superfine bead, bread and spiced biscuits, candied ripe red fruits and a sense of tight-knit complexity. Some grapefruit, lemon pith & gently flinty notes too - impressive nose. In the mouth it is rich, powerful, mouth-filling and flavorsome with a core of the same biscuity red fruit flavor, savory nutty notes and a wrap of assertive, persistent acidity that holds rich powerful flavor deep and focused whilst maintaining a polished, gently creamy texture. Long chalky bread and biscuit finish. A superb pinot-driven vintage."
. "The 2010 Quintessa, a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with some Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (don’t forget, the proprietor Agustin Huneeus has a background in Chile), is an elegant, finesse-styled red offering deep, rich, cassis fruit, dusty, loamy soil notes, medium to full body and ripe tannins. This evolved, seductive, round, generous 2010 offers up attractive notes of white chocolate and flowers as it sits in the glass. This is one of the first vintages made by Charles Thomas who has an impressive resume having worked previously at Robert Mondavi Winery and Rudd Estate. This 2010 should be drunk over the next decade or more."
"Ripe, opulent and juicy, the 2012 Red Wine from Leviathan is fabulous. Readers will find an immediate, fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon-based red bursting at the seams with intensity. Sweet floral and red stone fruits add texture on the finish. This full-throttle red is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Drink the 2012 over the next handful of years."

Cliff Lede Stag's Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Their basic Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is sensational and only hints at what consumers are likely to find with their more expensive and higher-end cuvées. This is just a stunner that is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Merlot. Dense purple in color, it has a beautiful nose of spring flowers, blackcurrants, subtle background oak and licorice and a long, opulent mouthfeel. This is a beauty that can be drunk now or cellared for another 15 more years. It is a heck of a wine and irresistible."

"Amazing aromas of blueberry, blackberry, mineral and bark. Complex nose. Full body plus super integrated tannins with superb balance and depth. Coffee and chocolate too. Very long and mind-bending. A tribute to the vintage. Drink or hold. A long life ahead of it. A blend of 75% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 10% petit verdot, 3% malbec, and 2% cabernet franc."

"this is a hearty Meritage employing all five red Bordeaux varieties. The color is black and the fruit equally dark and rich, offering muscular tannins around rich notes of blackberry, cedar and herb."
"Scheduled to be bottled this coming February and slightly lighter in style, the 2011 Saint-Joseph Vignes de l’Hospice (100% Syrah aged 30 months in 100% new French oak) offers perfumed spice, red currants, blackberry and bouquet garni-styled aromatics, medium to full-body and an overall seamless, forward and silky profile. It should be ready to go on release, yet evolve gracefully for 10-15 years."
"Up there with the best vintages of this cuvee to date, Col Solare's 2012 Proprietary Red (a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend that spent 22 months in 100% new French oak) has textbook Red Mountain structure and depth, as well as lots of crème de cassis, black raspberries, chocolate, melted licorice and spice. Big, voluptuous, layered and ripe, with a dense, chewy texture and a big finish, it’s certainly fun to drink now, but will be better with short-term cellaring and have two decades of overall longevity."

Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova 2007
"This is not the perfect 100-point 2006, but damn close. Loads of black cherries and spices on the nose. Full-bodied, with a beautiful core of fruit. Long and gorgeous finish. This is so long and beautiful to taste. Lasts for minutes. Try after 2015."
"Toasty, displaying mesquite, baking spice and licorice notes to the racy plum sauce and creamy wild berry compote flavors, remaining fresh as the finish reverberates with fruit character. Drink now through 2017."

"Glides along, offering an alluring mix of dense, dark blueberry, melted black licorice, grippy loamy earth and tannins that give the flavors traction. Impressive on the finish. This will appeal to those who like to chew on their reds."

"Glass-staining ruby. Heady smoke-and spice-tinged aromas of cherry pie, cassis, potpourri, pipe tobacco and allspice, with a touch of vanilla slowly emerging. Juicy and penetrating, with intense black and blue fruit flavors that spread out and stain the palate. The sweet, gently tannic finish displays excellent clarity and lift and a lingering note of candied rose."
"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard is dark, powerful and bequiling. Some of the more distinctly mineral, savory notes typical of this site lid in the background, yet there is plenty of underlying tannin to carry the fruit. This rich, explosive Cabernet needs time, but there is plenty to look forward to. Intense chalky/mineral notes frame the ample, saline finish with tons of Atlas Peak personality. Paul Hobbs and his long-time winemaker Megan Baccitich have turned out a spectacular set of 2012s and 2013s. As always, the Hobbs Cabernets are dark, intense and powerful in style, with considerable textural richness and opulence. In both 2012 and 2013 the wines seem more marked by their site specific qualities rather than the respective vintages. In my view, the most unique wines in the range are Stagecoach, Las Piedras, To-Kalon and Nathan Coombs, Hobbs' newly acquired estate vineyard in Coombsville."
Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer to Kalon Cabernet 2012
"Of the three Beckstoffer Vineyards, it's pretty much a joyride as to which one readers may prefer. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer to Kalvon (readers may remember the 2002 merited a 100 point score) has a beautiful blueberry and blackberry fruit note, a hint of incense, charcoal, an opaque purple color, full bodied opulence and again that first-growth quality, richness, complexity and intensity. I'm not sure this is as compelling as the 2002, nut it's not far away. This is a magnificent, multi-dimensional, skyscraper-like Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 15-20 years."

"Aromas of black currants, violets, lavender, and stone follow through a full body, chewy tannins and toned muscular structure. This is a Mondavi reserve that harkens back to the great years of the 1970s. A tribute to the 50th anniversary of the winery. Try in 2022."

"Lots of blackberry and wet-earth aromas follow through to full body, with chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Lots of fruit. Better in 2015 when the tannins soften."

"A beautiful ripe, plump, fat and opulent style of Cabernet Sauvignon that Caymus has pioneered, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple color, loads of juicy blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, low acidity and no real evidence of oak, but a nice, plush, full-bodied opulence. This is irresistible, especially for a Cabernet Sauvignon coming in at 14.9% natural alcohol. Drink it over the next decade or more."

"Juicy blackberry, cherry and leathery tannins characterize this full-bodied, dense and complex wine, which is velvety-smooth on the palate. Though the fruit is nicely developed and full figured, the tannins should continue to integrate with more time in the bottle. Cellar through 2022."

Caymus Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a dense opaque purple color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years."
"The third blend Dave Phinney and winemaker Kevin Fox are turning out is the El Coco Proprietary Blend Composition. The 2014 is 45% old vine Zinfandel, 41% Petite Sirah and 14% Merlot. There are 490 cases for this vintage. It is a spectacular wine, with an opaque purple color and a big, sweet kiss of pen ink, graphite, blackberry, blueberry and violets. Its supple, sweet tannin is amazing, and the wine builds incrementally to reveal terrific viscosity, fruit intensity and extraction, with a savory spiciness. This is a stunner to drink now and over the next 15+ years."

"2007 Hommage possesses aromas of blackberries, black cherry and French plums framed by licorice, clove and vanilla spices and subtle toasty oak. A rich, opulent and mouthfilling mid-palate leads to a long, intense finish. The balance between tannin, palate weight and acidity guarantees that the wine will improve nicely with additional bottle age, but its sheer youthful exuberance will delight those who cannot wait to give it a try."

"Across the board, Chris’s 2011s are more linear and supple than the 2010s, without the back-end level of depth or concentration found in that vintage. Already complex and up-front, without the density found in the 2010, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is still gorgeous. Loaded with leafy tobacco, cassis, saddle leather and mineral aromas and flavors, it is ripe, rounded and has sweet tannin on the finish."
